I have had the good fortune to have met and trained with some good, and some exceptional martial artists over the past 30 years. They have all taught openly and without prejudice. I always trained hard and I believe that I was a sincere and loyal student.

I now find myself in the privileged position of leading the Sung Chuan Kung Fu System. It is a task made less taunting because of the support given by my senior students and instructors. However, it would be an impossible journey without the support of all of you. Those of you who train diligently, week in and week out, helping your club to grow and prosper, should be very proud of yourselves. It was never going to be easy, striving to release and cultivate the true essence of Sung Chuan. Whether we have just a few clubs, or grow to have many centres worldwide, the quality must always remain. When I speak of quality, I am of course, also refering to the character of the student, and not just the standard of his or her skill, technique and knowledge.

There really is no strength without unity. It matters very little if we move forward slowly, however, it is paramount that we never stand still. There will always be those who predict the worse, they unwittingly spur us on to be the best that we can be. Most importantly we must feel happy and confident in ourselves and our art. What negative voices might say about us now, or in the future, is not our business. Our business is only that of Sung Chuan Kung Fu. That’s all that matters.

See you in the training halls.
J. Guishard.
